Set in the beautifully redeveloped waterfront area of Lowell, this sprint distance race is one of the area's best kept secrets. The quarter mile swim in the placid Merrimac River is like swimming in some of the nicer lakes on the Massachusetts triathlon circuit.
The bike course has been described by a number of athletes as being their absolute favorite bike course in the FIRM race series. It's a single loop, fairly flat eleven mile course on beautiful roads that make you feel you are in a rural setting. Quadmultisport will provide support on the bicycle course.
The run is a flat, straight out and back for 3 miles. Grab a bottle of refreshing water at the finish line and join your family and friends to listen to some live music at the waterfront celebration.
The Greater Lowell YMCA Triathlon, an olympic distance event, held on the same course, starts an hour before the sprint distance event.

Please contact FIRM's official coaching organization, Vescio Multisport Performance Services (www.mpstraining.com), if you would like help training for this event.
The top three finishers for elites, age groupers, athenas, clydesdales, and relay teams will receive medals and prizes. At the awards ceremony, Quadmultisport will hold a drawing for a Quintana Roo wetsuit.
This is the eighth race in the 2009 FIRM Grand Prix Series presented by Fuel Belt--another opportunity for individuals and teams to earn points in the grand prix standings. At the end of the year, the points can result in cool prizes for individuals and cash awards for teams.
